Château de Nainville-les-Roches
wedding cake

Venue notes and the sugar paste cake for a restored château in its own park, south of Paris, from a cake designer who has worked there.

Château de Nainville-les-Roches
a château in its own park.

I am Ange Gimenez, a wedding cake designer in Paris. I have worked at Château de Nainville-les-Roches, a restored château in the Essonne, and I design sugar paste cakes for its salons.

The château stands in the village of Nainville-les-Roches, about forty kilometres south of Paris and reached from the A6. It sits in a park of around twenty-eight hectares: French gardens, wooded paths, water and, as the venue describes it, peacocks, swans and deer. After a recent restoration the house reopened for weddings and private events, with its salons, a large circular entrance hall and a chapel.

A wedding here usually moves from the chapel, or a secular ceremony in the gardens, to a cocktail on the terrace, then to dinner in the salons. The venue lists rooms on the estate and a private car park, so close family can stay the night and the other guests can be driven out from Paris for the day.

For rooms of this scale I build tall without crowding the table, so the cake reads from the far end of the salon and still rewards the guest who walks up close. The flowers are shaped petal by petal in sugar paste, and the palette follows yours. For the wedding featured on Style Me Pretty, that meant blue, sage and gold.

On the day, I drive from my Paris atelier to Nainville-les-Roches with the cake, install it myself and leave only when it is exactly right.

Blue, sage and gold,
on Style Me Pretty.

In August 2026, Style Me Pretty published a wedding at Château de Nainville-les-Roches for which I made the cake, in a classic palette of blue, sage and gold. Read the feature on Style Me Pretty.

The photographs of that wedding belong to its photographer and are published with the feature. The images on this page come from other weddings and from my studio; the photographers and venues behind them are on my partners page.

Why sugar paste
for a château in its park

A cocktail in the gardens, a long dinner in the salons, an hour on the road from Paris. Sugar paste is the medium that holds through all three.

01

Holds through a summer cocktail

When the cocktail moves onto the terrace and into the park, a buttercream cake softens within the hour. Sugar paste keeps its edges and its petals from the first photograph to the cutting.

02

Each petal sculpted individually

Every flower is built petal by petal from sugar paste. Not piped, not printed, not pre-made. A single peony may take thirty minutes to an hour, and the colours follow your palette rather than a catalogue.

03

Height in proportion to the salons

Sugar paste gives me the structure for tall, multi-tiered cakes. In salons of this size I aim for a silhouette that reads across the room without overwhelming the table or the ceiling.

04

Delivered and placed in person

I do not hand the cake to a courier. I drive it from Paris down the A6, set it in place and adjust the presentation to the table and the evening light myself.

How a wedding cake
comes to life

1

Discovery Call

I begin with a conversation. Your venue. Your aesthetic. The feeling you want the cake to carry. I listen before I speak. No questionnaire. A real exchange about your day.

2

Design Consultation

Based on your venue, season and style references, I propose a design direction. Tier structure. Flower selection. Colour palette. The commission is confirmed at this stage, with timeline and logistics.

3

Sculpting Phase

Two to four weeks before your wedding, my hands are entirely yours. I sculpt every sugar flower by hand. Every petal is dried and assembled one at a time. The cake structure is built and dressed in the final days before delivery.

4

Delivery & Setup

I deliver to Nainville-les-Roches myself. I place the cake on the table by hand, adjust the presentation on site and leave only when it is exactly right. Your planner has one fewer thing to manage.

The château is in the Essonne, about forty kilometres south of Paris, reached from the A6. From central Paris it is roughly an hour by car, depending on traffic; from Charles de Gaulle airport, allow longer, since the route crosses or skirts the city. Most couples arrange a shuttle for the guests staying in Paris. I drive the cake down from my atelier on the morning of the wedding.
Listings put a seated dinner at roughly 120 to 150 guests, and the château confirms the exact number for each layout. For a dinner of that size, four tiers serve around one hundred and fifty guests; if the guest list grows, I add satellite cakes or a dessert table.
Yes. The venue offers a chapel and a space for secular ceremonies, with the terrace and the gardens for the cocktail. For the cake, what matters is where dinner is served: I install it in the salon before the guests come in from the park, out of direct sun.
May to September, when the cocktail can move into the park. Summer Saturdays book first, at the château and in my calendar, so write to me six to twelve months before the date. Sugar paste holds in July warmth as well as in an October salon.
Every commission is bespoke and quoted on its own terms. The figure follows the number of tiers, the level of sugar sculpture, the guest count and the distance to your venue. I do not publish a price list. I share a detailed proposal after a first conversation, with no obligation to proceed. Travel and installation are quoted with the cake, so the figure you receive is final. How a commission unfolds, from first conversation to installation, is described on my services page.
Yes. A wedding there, in a classic palette of blue, sage and gold, was featured on Style Me Pretty in August 2026, and I made its cake. I know the salons, the drive from Paris and where the cake should stand.
